HOW NETSUITE WMS CONFIGURATION AND PRINTING ENABLEMENT SUPPORTED BTS5’S GO-LIVE PREPARATION
GIR Software Services partnered with BTS5 to support the configuration and go-live preparation of their NetSuite Warehouse Management System (WMS).
The engagement focused on aligning NetSuite WMS configuration with warehouse workflows, validating system behavior across key processes, and enabling printing and label workflows required for day-to-day operations. Core warehouse functionality was already in place. The objective was to ensure the WMS environment was configured correctly, operationally consistent, and ready to scale ahead of launch.
This success story outlines how a configuration-led NetSuite WMS approach helped establish clarity and readiness across inventory, warehouse workflows, and printing.

Reviewing and Aligning NetSuite WMS Configuration
As part of the project, GIR worked closely with the BTS5 team to review and align their existing NetSuite WMS configuration.
The review focused on how configuration choices, workflow rules, and automation settings behaved within the warehouse environment, and whether they supported operational requirements expected at go-live.

Configuration Areas Reviewed Prior to Go-Live
The configuration review highlighted several areas requiring alignment before go-live.
These are common NetSuite WMS configuration considerations when preparing a system for scale and day-to-day execution:
- Inventory quantity differences across NetSuite subtabs, likely influenced by wave processing and fulfillment configuration
- Transfer Order fulfillments triggering unexpected errors due to workflow behavior
- Shipping and printing configuration not yet completed, including Ship Central, PrintNode, printers, and carriers
- Bin configuration missing sequence numbers and zones, affecting picking paths
- Cart configuration not enabled, limiting putaway flexibility
- Work Orders functionality disabled within the WMS environment
- Certain WMS rules inactive or unused
Overall, the NetSuite WMS environment was structurally sound.
The requirement centered on refining configuration to support inventory synchronization, warehouse efficiency, and operational consistency ahead of go-live.
NetSuite WMS Configuration for Printing and Warehouse Automation

One of the key configuration requirements identified during the engagement was enabling printing within NetSuite WMS.
Printing plays a central role in warehouse automation and is closely tied to WMS configuration across receiving, labeling, and downstream warehouse workflows.
GIR supported BTS5 by configuring:
- PrintNode connectivity to enable NetSuite WMS printing with on-site printers
- The PrintNode client across local machines supporting warehouse operations
- Printer settings within NetSuite to support WMS-driven print actions

To support long-term usability, GIR also provided documentation detailing configuration steps and printing troubleshooting. This allowed the BTS5 team to manage and maintain the setup independently after go-live.
Receiving and Shipping Label Configuration
In addition to core WMS printing setup, the engagement included configuring receiving and shipping labels to better support warehouse processes.
Previously, receiving labels were created manually for each shipment.
Based on a mock-up shared by BTS5, GIR configured:
- Custom receiving label templates for Purchase Order and Inbound Shipment workflows
- Automatic label printing during the receiving process within NetSuite WMS
- Updates to native shipping and receiving labels to align with BTS5’s branding and operational requirements
These configuration updates reduced manual effort, improved warehouse clarity, and supported more consistent execution during receiving and shipping.
Supporting Go-Live Readiness Through NetSuite WMS Configuration

Through configuration review, refinement, documentation, and enablement, the engagement supported BTS5’s go-live preparation by establishing:
- Clearer visibility into inventory behavior and configuration dependencies
- Reduced reliance on manual printing and label creation
- Better alignment between WMS configuration and warehouse workflows
- A stable foundation for future warehouse and logistics integration, including potential 3PL integration
Rather than introducing additional third-party WMS tools, the focus remained on configuring and optimizing the native NetSuite WMS environment already in place.
This engagement reflects our broader work across NetSuite WMS configuration and go-live readiness initiatives
